Overview

ScanFixAI is a vehicle diagnostic application. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Vehicle Diagnostic Data

When you connect to a vehicle, ScanFixAI reads diagnostic information including trouble codes (DTCs), module data, live sensor data, freeze frame data, and vehicle identification numbers (VIN). This data is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to our servers.

Device Information

The app uses Bluetooth and/or WiFi to connect to OBD-II adapters. We access Bluetooth device identifiers solely for the purpose of connecting to your diagnostic adapter. We do not use Bluetooth scanning for location purposes.

Purchase Information

If you purchase a Pro license, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We receive a license key and confirmation of purchase. We do not store or have access to your credit card numbers, bank account details, or full payment information.

License Validation

The app contacts our server to validate license keys. This transmits your license key and a machine identifier. No personal information is sent during this process.

Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address through the app
We do not collect your location data
We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
We do not display advertisements
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties
We do not collect data from your phone (contacts, photos, files, etc.)

Data Storage

All vehicle diagnostic data, scan results, repair history, and settings are stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app data or uninstalling the application.

Third-Party Services

Stripe — processes payments for Pro licenses. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Diag.net — optional feature to search professional repair databases. Only activated when you explicitly use the "Research Solutions" feature. Searches are based on DTC codes, not personal information.

Permissions Explained

Bluetooth — Required to connect to OBD-II diagnostic adapters via Bluetooth SPP
WiFi/Network — Required to connect to WiFi-based OBD-II adapters and for license validation
Location (Android 11 and below only) — Required by Android OS for Bluetooth device scanning. We do not use this for actual location tracking. This permission is not requested on Android 12+.
Install Packages — Required for in-app updates (Android sideloaded version only)

Children's Privacy

ScanFixAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all ScanFixAI data by:

Clearing app data in your device settings
Uninstalling the application

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
